Most Thai provinces has a 'City Pillar Shrine' located in the provincial capital. This Shrine representing the centre and the spirit of the city and province. Locals and visitors come by to pray and see good fortune and advice in life. In Thai the term is 'Lak Mueang'.
The Shrine for Singburi is in the city centre, adjacent to several other cultural sites. The Shrine is in the form of a small enclosure. In the centre is the golden pillar. There are numerous statues of the Buddha and other 'gods' in the Shrine. To enter, remove shoes and hat, walk in with respect.
