NRHP Nomination Form

"Prominent architect Atlee B. Ayres designed this example of the Late Gothic Revival style in 1910 for the congregation of the Laurel Heights Methodist Church. Constructed of brick masonry and Carthage stone, the religious edifice features pointed segmented arches, stylized buttresses and cut stone detailing such as crockets that bespeak its architectural heritage. Colloquially known as the Millionaires Church because the funding of its expensive construction came rapidly and generously from neighborhood residents, this was the first of seven houses of worship built to reflect the religious diversity of neighborhood residents."
