The memorial center piece is a section of steel beam recovered from the world Trade Center, along with a plaque bearing the inscription recorded below.
Behind the steel beam, to the left (south), is a memorial stone that bears the following inscription:

THIS BEAM, ARTIFACT I-169c, WAS RECOVERED FROM THE WORLD TRADE CENTER SITE IN NEW YORK CITY FOLLOWING THE SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 TERRORIST ATTACK. THIS PARK IS DEDICATED TO THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO LOST THEIR LIVES THAT DAY AND TO THE MEN AND WOMEN IN EMERGENCY SERVICES WHO CONTINUE TO GIVE THEIR LIVES FOR THE PROTECTION AND CARE OF THE PUBLIC AND THEIR PROPERTY.
