When I look out of my front window, I see a glow coming from the southeast corner of our neighborhood. But it isn't a fire, it is Holidays on Pomander!

A few years ago a huge Christmas display began to appear each year on the corner of Pomander Avenue and Painted Sky Road in Reading, PA. This corner is on the route of the school buses going to and from the local elementary school, one which my grandchildren attend. Kids get excited at the thought of Christmas but this massive display really fueled the excitement and the chatter on the buses must make it difficult for the kids to focus when they first arrived at school.
Each year, this display has grown and grown. The young couple who lives in the home are true Christmas fans and this year, in addition to their own Facebook page (
visit link) , they have been featured on local news as they invite people to come to their home and walk around to get a better view of the each and every little detail that they have added to their home. This year, one of the new displays is a mailbox for children to send their letters to Santa along with a 14 foot tall Mickey Mouse. The area is a pure joy to see and has been attracting people from all around our city to come and enjoy a few minutes of being a kid again.
