This building was erected in 1888 for the Wakefield and Barnsley Union Bank. On top of the building is the clock.

The clock is in the centre of a round stone pediment that has a relief carving of foliage around it. The clock has a white face with the time indicated by black roman numerals. In the centre of the clock face is a six side star and the hands are also black.

The Wakefield Civic Society has erected a plaque with information about the building.
