A typical Scottish doocot, in a lean-to lectern-style. It can be found in an isolated position near the corner of a large field on the eastern side of the A92 road between the Angus coastal towns of Montrose and Arbroath, three miles south of Montrose on the Muir of Lunan near Lunan Smithy.

The rubble built doocot is now in a ruined state with no roof, but remains intact around the exterior. A minor road at the Braehead of Lunan to the south, gives a view inside the interior, with some of the pigeonholes still visible. There would have been an estimated 800 holes within the doocot.

(If known) Approximately how many pigeonholes in the dovecote?: Not listed
