This 'You Are Here' is an information sign in the car parking area at Edzell Muir next to the church on the north side of the village.
Edzell is a large village in the northern part of the county of Angus in Scotland at the foothills of the eastern Grampian Mountains. Edzell Muir is a large picnic and recreation area which also contains the village's church, and this sign can be found just to its immediate west.
The sign has a large map of the village with numbered dots pointing out places of interest, along with photographs, in the village and surrounding areas. These are:
1 War Memorials - There are two of these, the First World War Memorial to the south of the village, and the Boer War Memorial not far away to the east.
2 Dalhousie Arch - Memorial arch at the gateway to the village to the south.
3 Edzell Castle - National Trust owned ruined castle and gardens along the road to the west.
4 Inglis Memorial Hall - Library and museum with distinctive clock tower on the south side of the village.
5 Invermark Castle - Ruined tower house at the top of Glen Esk, ten miles to the north-west.
6 Lindsay Vault - Remaining part of the old church in the graveyard a mile to the west, just past the castle.
7 Shakkin' Brig - Pedestrian suspension bridge over the River North Esk to the east of the village.
8 Rocks of Solitude & The Burn - Rocks in the River North Esk and the mansion house of The Burn, a mile to the north of the village.
9 The Retreat, Glen Esk - Museum at Tarfside, around seven miles up Glen Esk.
Also on the sign are a history of the village, a 'Did You Know?' feature, and a large photograph of the Boer War Memorial.
The car park can be reached off Lethnot Road on the north side of the village.
