Manetín is often called the "Baroque pearl of West Bohemia". The Baroque Manetín chateau, the former residence of the Lažanský family is the heart of this town. Manetín was first mentioned in written records in 1169 when King Vladislav II. There are also two churches . The one is dedicated to St. John the Baptist (
visit link) , the other one (The Church of St. Barbora (
visit link) ) is located at easter side of the town. These two churches connect the way. It is called in Czech "Vysoká cesta".
The several Baroque sculptures of saints are located along this "Vysoká cesta". The sculptures were created by artists from the mid 18th century - Štepán Borovec and his pupil Joseph Herscher (

Socha postavena v roce svetcova svatorecení. Na válcovém soklu zdobeném volutovými kridélky a nápisem v kartuši a reliéfy se zpovedí královny Johany,a mucednickou smrtí svetcovou. Prostovlasý svetec nadživotní velikosti drží v pozdvižené pravici kríž, k nemuž oddane vzhlíží, v levé ruce drží biret.Kožešinový plášT sepnutý u krku s hlubokým záhybem pod zdviženou paží. Sutana a rocheta je clenena dlouhými, svislými záhyby.Socha svetce ve vlastní Herscherove kompozici, odlišná od bežné barokní verze. U nohou svetce sedí andílek s korunou slávy a gestem mlcení.
