 < "The church of Saint-Paixent is on the edge of the Adriers road: east of L'Isle Jourdain, today dedicated to Our Lady, it was first patron saint Paixent (Pascentius) , one of the first bishops of Poitiers.
The saintly bishop of Poitiers Pierre II (1087-1115) gave the church of Samt-Paixent to the Benedictine abbey of Moutier-d'Ahun (Creuse). The donation is confirmed in 1124 by the bishop of Poitiers Gulllaume Adelelme, in 1182 by Pope Lucius III who lists the Poitevin possessions of Moutier- d'Ahun: Saint-Paixent: Luchapt: Mouterre: Barbados (Commune of Moussac), Forest (Municipality of Millac). From the beginning of the 12th century to Saint-Paixent depend on Moutier-d'Ahun, with a prior, who will serve the parish by a secular perpetual vicar.
At the Revolution the church was united with that of Millac. In 1803 it was detached and was attached to the church of L'Isle-Jourdain. In 1820 is the return to a dependency of Millac. The building has the shape of a Latin cross with a single nave of three spans overlooking a span under steeple, confined to transept arms with eastern absidioles. "

Cultural and cultural event "The Night of the Churches" allows the Christian communities to live, even in the smallest villages, their church and to welcome all those who present themselves so that they discover the richness of their inheritance through various animations : concerts, visits, exhibitions, readings ...
The 7th edition is taking place this year from June 24th to July 2nd. Thus, Saturday, July 1, the Church of Our Lady of St. Paixent (Isle-Jourdain) will open at 8 pm and will offer exhibition, illumination, hive of prayer and concert with the vocal ensemble "Campestris" whose repertoire focuses on the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
This vocal ensemble "A Capella" has often given concerts in the Center and Nouvelle-Aquitaine regions where it plays mainly for the benefit of charities.

De 1866 à 1914 1'église de Saint-Paixent sera église paroissiale, desservie par les vicaires de L'Isle-Jourdain Dans les années 1950, elle a cessé d'être une paroisse distincte.
De la façade ouest, épaulée d'énormes contreforts et terminée en pignon surmonté d'une croix, on admire surtout le portail triple rang de lobes qui se déploient depuis le sol (peut-être d'inspiration mozarabe). Le calcaire a mal résisté aux intempertes.
L'édifice a la forme d'une croix latine avec nef unique de trois travées donnant sur une travée sous clocher, cantonnée de bras de transept pourvus d'absidioles orientales. "

" Manifestation cultuelle et culturelle « La Nuit des églises » permet aux communautés chrétiennes de faire vivre, même dans les plus petits villages, leur église et d'accueillir tous ceux qui se présentent afin qu'ils découvrent les richesses de leur patrimoine via diverses animations?: concerts, visites, expositions, lectures…
La 7 eédition se déroule, cette année, du 24 juin au 2 juillet. Ainsi, samedi 1 erjuillet, l'église Notre-Dame de Saint-Paixent (commune de l'Isle-Jourdain) ouvrira ses portes à 20?h et proposera exposition, illumination, ruche de prière et concert avec l'ensemble vocal « Campestris » dont le répertoire est axé sur les périodes Renaissance et baroque.
Cet ensemble vocal « A Capella », a souvent donné des concerts dans les régions Centre et Nouvelle- Aquitaine où il se produit surtout au profit d'œuvres caritatives.
Samedi 1 erjuillet à 20?h en l'église de Saint-Paixent. Entrée libre."
