"The church of Saint-Paixent is on the edge of the Adriers road: east of L'Isle Jourdain, today dedicated to Our Lady, it was first patron saint Paixent (Pascentius) , one of the first bishops of Poitiers.

De la façade ouest, épaulée d'énormes contreforts et terminée en pignon surmonté d'une croix, on admire surtout le portail triple rang de lobes qui se déploient depuis le sol (peut-être d'inspiration mozarabe). Le calcaire a mal résisté aux intempertes. "
L'édifice a la forme d'une croix latine avec nef unique de trois travées donnant sur une travée sous clocher, cantonnée de bras de transept pourvus d'absidioles orientales. "
