FR Au petit matin du 1er juillet 1944, les Allemands et les éléments de la 8e compagnie Brandebourg lancent une attaque contre les maquis du secteur de Saint-Saturnin, installés dans les quartiers de Gayéoux (ou Gaillaut) et de Petoucheoù. Ils sont guidés par une jeune fille d’origine polonaise qui a frayé avec des maquisards avant de rejoindre les « Brandebourgeois ». Ils encerclent les maquisards réfugiés dans la ferme de Gayéoux et en abattent quatre qui tentent de fuir. Une stèle a été érigée sur les lieux du drame.

Un détachement allemand se rendit à la ferme de Berre, sur le territoire de la commune de Villars (Vaucluse), où des maquisards, tous réfractaires au STO, membre de la SAP, étaient abrités. Trois d’entre eux furent arrêtés ainsi que Paulette Nouveau, l’épouse du chef de la Résistance locale (groupe Koenig). Ils seront exécutés sur la place de Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt. La fermière, Madame Gaillard, mère de quatre enfants, est abattue sur place. Grièvement blessée par un Brandebourgeois, on la laisse agoniser pendant 4 heures. Sa ferme fut pillée et incendiée. Une stèle a été érigée à cet emplacement après la Libération.

Les Allemands ayant défendu de toucher les corps pendant 48 heures, leurs obsèques ont lieu le 3 juillet.

Cinq corps sont découverts dans la forêt, au lieu-dit Les Boucanes, le 11 juillet 1944. Il s’agit de prisonniers de la 8e compagnie Brandebourg, tirés de l’hôtel Splendid de Cavaillon et exécutés au cours de l’opération. Ils sont enterrés le 18 juillet 1944. Une stèle a été érigée sur les lieux de l’exécution.

EN In the early morning of July 1, 1944, the Germans and elements of the 8th Brandenburg Company launched an attack against the maquis of the Saint-Saturnin sector, settled in the districts of Gayéoux (or Gaillaut) and Petouche where. They are guided by a young girl of Polish origin who had been working with the Maquis before joining the "Brandenburgers". They surrounded the Maquis who had taken refuge in the Gayéoux farm and shot four of them who were trying to flee. A stele was erected at the scene of the tragedy.

A German detachment went to the farm of Berre, on the territory of the municipality of Villars (Vaucluse), where Maquis, all refractory to the STO, member of SAP, were sheltered. Three of them were arrested as well as Paulette Nouveau, the wife of the leader of the local Resistance (Koenig group). They will be executed on the place de Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt. The farmer, Mrs Gaillard, mother of four children, was slaughtered on the spot. Seriously wounded by a Brandenburger, she was allowed to die for 4 hours. His farm was looted and burned down. A stele was erected on this site after the Liberation.

The Germans having forbidden to touch the bodies for 48 hours, their funeral takes place on July 3.

Five bodies were discovered in the forest, at Les Boucanes, on July 11, 1944. These were prisoners of the 8th Brandenburg Company, taken from the Splendid Hotel in Cavaillon and executed during the operation. They were buried on July 18, 1944. A stele was erected on the scene of the execution.
