Located on the eastern tip of Sanibel Island at Point Ybel is the Sanibel Lighthouse. The light is 98 feet above sea level and sits on an iron skeleton tower and was first lit on August 20, 1884.

From the 90-foot Sanibel Lighthouse (open; fishing from pier and Bailey's dock), on Point Ybel, east end of the island, is a broad view of the Gulf, mainland, adjacent islands, and San Carlos Bay.
