"L’ensemble scolaire Les Cordeliers est né en février 2016 de la fusion des trois établissements catholiques dinanais. Le plus ancien, le navire amiral dirons-nous, l’Institution des Cordeliers rayonne sur le paysage scolaire dinanais depuis 1804. A l’origine établissement de garçons, il a formé des générations d’élèves et rayonne sur toute la Bretagne. Son cadet, l’Institution Notre Dame de la Victoire a été créée en 1934 pour accueillir les jeunes filles. Ecole dirigée par les Ursulines puis par les Sœurs de la Divine Providence de Créhen, Notre Dame de la Victoire constitue le deuxième pôle de l’ensemble scolaire. Troisième pôle de l’ensemble, le lycée Dominique Savio a été récemment transplanté à Dinan et accueille des formations professionnelles.
Les Cordeliers – Ensemble scolaire, c’est un projet éducatif animé par la volonté d’un enseignement de qualité et le désir d’aider l’élève à mettre en évidence l’ensemble de ses talents.

The school ensemble Les Cordeliers was born in February 2016 from the merger of the three Catholic establishments in Dinan. The oldest, the flagship, the Institution des Cordeliers radiates on the Dinanese school landscape since 1804. Originally a school of boys, it has trained generations of students and radiates throughout Brittany. His younger brother, the Institution Our Lady of Victory was created in 1934 to welcome young girls. School directed by the Ursulines then by the Sisters of the Divine Providence of Créhen, Our Lady of the Victory constitutes the second pole of the school complex. Third pole of the whole, the high school Dominique Savio was recently transplanted to Dinan and hosts vocational training.

"Le couvent des Cordeliers de Dinan est un monument religieux datant du xiiie siècle. Cet édifice est situé dans la ville de Dinan, dans les Côtes-d'Armor. Le couvent abrite aujourd'hui le collège-lycée privé catholique des Cordeliers.

Ce couvent fut fondé par Henri II d'Avaugour, alors seigneur de Dinan, en 1241.
Entre 1247 et 1249, les Franciscains (ou Cordeliers) s'installent à Dinan. En 1278, Henri II d'Avaugour prit l’habit de moine et s'y retira. Son fils, Alain II d'Avaugour, poursuivit l'édification de cet établissement religieux.
Composé à l'origine d'une dizaine de frères, le couvent s'étoffe au fils des années pour atteindre la trentaine de religieux aux xve et xvie siècles.
Dans la seconde moitié du xive et du xve siècle, les Franciscains font réaliser d'importants travaux, à commencer par l'édification d'un porche monumental, orné de pilastres et coiffé de cordelières. Une galerie de niches à statues couronne l'ensemble. Le grand cloître, bordé par un vaste déambulatoire, desservait les différents espaces, à commencer par les salle capitulaire, qui abrita les États de Bretagne.
Prospère et dynamique jusqu'au xviiie siècle, le couvent n'abrite plus que sept religieux au moment de la Révolution. Fermé en 1791 puis vendu comme bien national, le couvent est racheté en 1807 par l'Abbé Berthier.
Depuis 1804, le monument est devenu un lieu d'enseignement privé catholique. Celui-ci regroupe un collège et un lycée."

This convent was founded by Henry II of Avaugour, then lord of Dinan, in 1241.
Between 1247 and 1249, the Franciscans (or Cordeliers) settled in Dinan. In 1278, Henry II of Avaugour took the habit of a monk and retired there. His son, Alain II d'Avaugour, continued the building of this religious establishment.
Originally composed of a dozen brothers, the convent expanded over the years to reach thirty religious in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
In the second half of the fourteenth and fifteenth century, the Franciscans are realizing important works, beginning with the building of a monumental porch, decorated with pilasters and wearing cords. A gallery of statuary niches crowns the whole. The large cloister, bordered by a vast ambulatory, served the different spaces, starting with the chapter house, which sheltered the States of Brittany.
Prosperous and dynamic until the eighteenth century, the convent only houses seven religious at the time of the Revolution. Closed in 1791 and sold as national property, the convent was bought in 1807 by Abbé Berthier.
Since 1804, the monument has become a place of private Catholic education. It brings together a college and a high school. "
