Monument is located in the Remembrance Gardens Veterans Memorial Park in London's northeast end.
The monument is dedicated to those Canadian Forces personnel who were POW or are MIA.
Many Canadians were POW after the Fall of Hong Kong in 1941. Many more were captured in Malaya, and suffered at the hands of their captors.
More recently, Canadian soldiers and airmen were POW during the Korean War.
Several Canadians are listed as MIA during the Vietnam conflict, most notably those who were shot down over Laos but never recovered.
