Gowen is an unincorporated town of about 300 residents, located south of Highway 270 approximately 10 miles west of Wilburton, in Latimer County. The post office was first established here on January 13, 1894.
The current post office is a one-story tan brick building with a gable roof. It has a single glass entry door with sidelights and one window. The counter hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 10:30am, and on Saturday from 8:00am to 9:30am. The lobby and post office boxes are available 24 hours Monday to Saturday.
