Classé dans les préoblitérés dans le thème des fortifications, constructions et patrimoine, le timbre a servi à l'affranchissement des imprimés de 100 à 250 gr. Il a été dessiné et gravé par Claude Durrens. Mis en service en 1980 et retiré en 1981. 

Construite sur le modèle architectural de la Bastille, le Château a été construit entre 1400 et 1435 par les ducs d'Anjou, comtes de Provence, Louis II (1384-1417) et son fils Louis III (1417-1434).  Le Roy René 1er procéda à divers aménagements afin d'agrémenter le Château qui avait une fonction résidentielle et militaire. Construit face à Beaucaire, ville royale, le Château assurait la sécurité de la frontière occidentale de la Provence. Classé monument historique en 1840, le Château est racheté par l'Etat qui va poursuivre sa restauration, il est aujourd'hui propriété de la ville de Tarascon.

Classified in the Pre-obliterated stamps in the theme of fortifications, constructions and heritage, the stamp served for the franking of prints from 100 to 250 gr. It was designed and engraved by Claude Durrens. Commissioned in 1980 and retired in 1981. 

Built on the architectural model of the Bastille, the castle was built between 1400 and 1435 by the Dukes of Anjou, Counts of Provence, Louis II (1384-1417) and his son Louis III (1417-1434). Roy René 1st proceeded to various arrangements to decorate the Castle which had a residential and military function. Built facing Beaucaire, royal city, the castle ensured the security of the western border of Provence. Classified as a historic monument in 1840, the Château is bought by the State, which will continue its restoration, it is now owned by the city of Tarascon.
