The Exeter Lions Club participates in many community projects including the Lions Delaware Valley Eye Bank, the Beacon Lodge (a camp for blind children), roadside clean up along Rt. 562, and restoration projects for the elderly or disabled. They participate in a community outreach program to provide eye glases and exams to needy people. They collect aluminum tabs to convert to cash for the Hershey Ronald McDonald house, baseball caps for cataract surgery patients in third world countries, and, of course, used eyeglasses.
As the mother of a blind daughter, I am always grateful to the Lions Clubs who work to provide guide dogs for the visually impaired. My daughter received her first guide dog through them about 20 years ago and we will never forget the way her dog helped her to move on from a sighted world to a world without vision.
