Muziekkoepel - Roermond, Netherlands - Gazebos on Waymarking.com

This historic gazebo is located on the plaza Munsterplein right in front of Roermond's main church Munsterkerk. It is a classic music kiosk (Dutch: Muziekkoepel) from 1888. The architect Dr. P.J.H. Cuypers made the plans for the twelve-sided building.

The construction consists of a brick-built base, twelve cast iron beams and a wodden rooftop. Between the beams, there are delicate wooden ornaments in the upper area below the rooftop as well as iron railings on the ground.

Today, the gazebo is one of Roermond's most famous and best preserved historic monuments. Many pictures of the city's skyline show the kiosk, such as the community commemoration plaque "750 Jaar Roermond". It is listed as a Dutch national monument.
