This cemetery chapel was constructed in 1985 in memory of the parish's first priest, Father Henry DeVivo, an Italian Immigrant who was the creator of Saint Rita Parish and who had the cemetery plotted here. Father served Saint Rita's from 1915-1953.
The chapel is of your standard for the area just seating and a altar inside, and electricity of course as there is no windows.
The Saint Rita Cemetery is located in the Hillcrest Section of Connellsville Township and was established by the parish's founder, Father Rev. Henry DeVivo. There are several plots here as well as the Cemetery Chapel and Flagpole Area. Connected to this cemetery and bounded by Geibel Catholic High School's Athletic Complex is the Saint Joseph Cemetery, the cemetery of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, another Roman Catholic Parish in Connellsville. With the combined parish being in effect since 2008, the chapel itself is used by parishioners of both churches.
