Die ehemalige Hahnmühle gehört zu den ältesten Mühlen Coburgs und wurde wohl Anfang des 14. Jahrhunderts vor den Toren der Stadt errichtet. 1323 wurde die für die Stadt wichtige Getreidemühle am Hahnfluss, einem Mühlenbach der Itz, erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. 1597 folgte eine Erweiterung um eine Ölmühle, 1627 wurde der Komplex mit einer Schneidmühle (Sägewerk) ergänzt. 1890 endete der Mühlenbetrieb, da die Stadt der Einrichtung einer zusätzlichen Marmormühle nicht zustimmte. Das heutige Haupthaus entstand 1622 nach umfassenden Um- und Erweiterungsbaumaßnahmen. Im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert folgten die übrigen Bauwerkstrakte. Die Abtrennung des Innenhofs auf der Nordseite zur Allee durch eine Dekorationsmauer wurde 1863/64 durchgeführt. Eine Umgestaltung des Erdgeschosses für einen Bäckerladen geschah 1875, in den nächsten Jahrzehnten folgten je nach Nutzungsart weitere Umbaumaßnahmen. 1949 ließ der Besitzer Metzgermeister Rose die Fachwerkfassade freilegen und sanieren. Eine weitere Fassadenrenovierung wurde 1981 durchgeführt. Der zweigeschossige Satteldachbau besitzt im Erdgeschoss massive gemauerte Sandsteinwände, die die Fachwerkwände des Obergeschosses tragen. Das dreigeschossige Satteldach weist einen außergewöhnlich aufwändigen gestalteten Zierfachwerkgiebel auf, mit fünf Fenstern im Obergeschoss, sowie vier und darüber zwei Fenster im Dachgeschoss. Das Fachwerk der übrigen Fassaden ist einfacher gestaltet. Die Rückseite mit den Nebengebäuden besteht aus dem Ostflügel mit einem abgewalmten Satteldach und dem Nordflügel mit der davorstehenden Dekorationsmauer

The former Hahnmühle is one of the oldest mills in Coburg and was probably built at the beginning of the 14th century just outside the city. 1323 was the important for the city flour mill on Hahn River, a mill creek of the Itz, first documented. 1597 was followed by an extension to an oil mill, 1627 the complex was supplemented with a cutting mill (sawmill). The mill operation ended in 1890, as the city did not agree to the establishment of an additional marble mill. The present main building was built in 1622 after comprehensive reconstruction and extension work. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the remaining building tracts followed. The separation of the courtyard on the north side to the avenue by a decoration wall was carried out 1863/64. A redesign of the ground floor for a bakery happened in 1875, in the following decades, depending on the type of use, further reconstruction measures followed. In 1949, owner Metzgermeister Rose had the half-timbered facade uncovered and renovated. Another facade renovation was carried out in 1981. The two-storey saddle roof construction has solid masonry sandstone walls on the ground floor, which carry the half-timbered walls of the upper floor. The three-storey saddle roof has an exceptionally elaborate ornamental gable, with five windows upstairs, as well as four and above two windows in the attic. The framework of the other facades is simpler. The back with the outbuildings consists of the east wing with a sloped saddle roof and the north wing with the decorative wall in front of it.
