A large three part sign welcomes cruise ship passengers to Skagway. The left side informs visitors that Skagway is the home of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park. The middle part contains the seal of the Town of Skagway and the slogan "Gateway to the Klondike". To the right is a you are here map of Skagway. The right side side tells visitors of the Skagway Traditional Council is a Federally recognized Tribe and identifies the origin of the name Skagway as the native word Shghagwei meaning "Windy Place".
