William “Bill” Zeswitz Sr., a master luthier and maker of world-class violins, founded the company to serve the Reading Symphony Orchestra and musicians in the area.

Zeswitz Music's school services and rental department was one of the first of its kind in the nation. The Zeswitz family pioneered instrument rental with accordions and organs in the 1920s and 1930s, and the company remains at the forefront of the industry to this day.

Zeswitz continues to partner with music educators to advance music education by providing quality instruments and accessories to students who are interested in learning. The company is independently owned and operated.
