První prototyp vzlétl 30. prosince 1947 a zanedlouho poté byla zahájena sériová výroba. Do Ceskoslovenského letectva byli první stroje dodány v dubnu 1951. V Ceskoslovenské sériové výrobe byl MiG-15 prestavován na verzi SB od roku 1968. Stroj "3912" je v expozici nadace LHS od 13. listopadu 1984 a byl prevezen z Hradce Králové.

The first prototype took off on December 30, 1947, and shortly after, serial production began. The first machines were delivered to Czechoslovak Air Force in April 1951. In the Czechoslovak serial production, the MiG-15 was converted to the SB version from 1968. The "3912" was in the LHS Foundation's exposition since November 13, 1984 and was transported from Hradec Králové.
