La construction de l'hôtel de ville de Saint-Quentin a débuté en 1331 et fut terminée en 1509. Le monument fut remanié pendant le troisième quart du XIXe siècle et très largement restauré en 1926 après la destruction de la ville pendant la Grande Guerre, dans le style Art déco par l'architecte Louis Guindez.
Le monument est classé au titre des monuments historiques par arrêté du 29 août 1984.
Construction of Saint-Quentin City Hall began in 1331 and was completed in 1509. The monument was remodelled during the third quarter of the 19th century and very largely restored in 1926 after the destruction of the city during the Great War, in the Art Deco style by the architect Louis Guindez.
The monument is classified as a historical monument by decree of 29 August 1984.
