Allegheny Commons Park still retains the remnants of its original Victorian-era design. This equestrian statue of George Washington is a key element within the Park.

Washington rode to Pittsburgh on horseback as a young military officer in the French and Indian War. His first trip didn't go very well, as General Braddock's army was soundly defeated.
