Long Description:
Ryerson Station has a rich history in the development of the state of Pennsylvania. It was first the home of the Adena Indians, also know as the Mound Builders, because of their elevated burial mounds. At one point, France and England fought for the land in the vicinity of Ryerson Station and after that, the Indians fought to get it back. A little later, Mason and Dixon, who were conducting the land survey, were prevented from continuing their work by the Indians in this area. Another several years of wars between the Indians and the settlers of Pennsylvania and Virginia saw the development of Ryerson's Fort.

In 1784, the US courts declared the area to be part of Pennsylvania but the fights between the Indians and the settlers continued until 1794 when President George Washington sent an army to end the fighting.

In 1967, Ryerson Station State Park was opened to the public. It is a beautiful park, I explored some of it in a camping trip there in 2017. The trails are lovely, there is a pool for those who just want to relax, as I mentioned, there is a little campground. And, the state park office will hand out a Ryerson Station State Park stamp if requested.
