[ENG] A love lock is a padlock that is attached to bridges, bars or similar fixed objects according to the custom of lovers in order to symbolically seal their eternal love.
The Feenteich Bridge was built in 1884 according to a design by civil engineer Franz Andreas Meyer. The Brooks Bridge and the Kornhaus Bridge were used in their construction. Both quarries were demolished in the course of Meyer's redesign of the port of Hamburg and the construction of the Speicherstadt warehouse district.
The granite balustrade and the four columns to the left and right of the bridge piers originate from the Kornhaussbrücke bridge. Today they each carry a lantern.
The two lion sculptures standing in front of the bridge in the water of the Alster come from the Brooksbrücke. They hold the Hamburg coat of arms between the paws.
The Feenteich Bridge is 7 m long and 15.6 m wide. It stands on a concrete foundation. The core of the wing walls, which are clad with boulder, is also made of concrete. The arch of the bridge is covered with bricks from below.
To the left and right of the bridge there is a wrought-iron railing. This is hung with the love locks.
