"Qu'ils soient locaux, voisins ou vacanciers, tous pensent connaître la tourbière des Dauges. Certains l'ont parcourue de nombreuses fois en suivant le fléchage, et bien sûr en respectant les consignes des panneaux rencontrés.
Mais ils ne la connaissent pas pour autant. Ils ne connaissent pas tous ses secrets, tous les animaux qui la peuplent. Ils savent tous, pour l'avoir lu que la réserve naturelle de la tourbière des Dauges est implantée dans une cuvette d'environ 200 hectares sur la commune de Saint-Léger-la-Montagne et qu'elle abrite de nombreux milieux naturels d'intérêt patrimoniaux tels bas marais, zones de tourbières, landes tourbeuses ainsi que pelouses, landes sèches et bois dont une remarquable hêtraie à houx ; que la formation de la tourbière remonte à 12.000 ans, que l'excès d'eau, le froid et l'acidité du milieu ont stoppé la décomposition de la matière organique, ce qui a permis aux sphaignes de s'accumuler pour former la tourbe, que le pourtour de la dépression est composé de prairies pauvres, de landes sèches et de bois majoritairement feuillus, que c'est au sein de ces milieux naturels que se développent une faune et une flore remarquables (engoulevent d'Europe, lézard vivipare, cordulie arctique, damier de la succise, dolomède, spiranthe d'été, droséras, arnica des montagnes, lycopode inondé). Tous savent que deux sentiers balisés permettent la découverte des lieux. Ils ne pourront vraiment dire qu'ils commencent à la connaître quand ils auront accompagné Murielle Lencroz dans une des nombreuses promenades qu'elle organise tout au long de l'année. Elle met tout son savoir à disposition des gens qui veulent connaître la tourbière.
Ce fut le cas le 11 août. Une trentaine de personnes avait répondu à son invitation. Trente, cela semble peu et pourtant, c'est largement suffisant pour être sûr que chacun ait compris. Murielle, après quelques explications et consignes, dirige le groupe, sans suivre forcément les sentiers balisés. De points en points, elle explique tout en détail.
