Prior to the new highway being built there was a magnificent stand of mature she-oaks at this location which is beside Broughton Creek. The building of the bridge saw them cut down & a vital path for wildlife movement destroyed. This dilemma was overcome by the building of the flat rope ladder.
The ladder is supported by two tall poles that carry it across the secondary road then two short poles under the bridge & to the other side. Long nylon ropes connect the poles to trees on either side.
You can park just past the creek when heading south on Donovans Road (former Princes Highway) & then walk back on the inside of the guard rail & over the creek to get a close look at the ladder.
