Along the north side of Highway 2A, this Survey Control Marker disc is at a place many would stop as a matter of course.

We don't know if this Fas Gas station still has the cheapest gas in the area, but for many years, such was the case. The control marker has been beaten about the head with a blunt object, judging by its appearance. Some of the numbers are still legible, but not all. Just west of the marker is a witness post, also the victim of past violence. Enough of the sign remains on the post to tell us that a survey marker is nearby. Both marker and witness post are about six feet north of the Fas Gas sign shown in the gallery.
