Summsteine dienen der Wahrnehmung der Sinne über spielerische Erfahrung mit der eigenen Stimme durch Summen und Resonanz. Steine mit Summlöchern sollen bereits in vorchristlicher Zeit zur Meditation und Heilung benutzt worden sein. Die Form des im Steinbruch vorgefundenen Steins wurde nicht verändert, lediglich die Vorderseite bekam einen Feinschliff. Nach dem Einarbeiten des Summlochs wurde blaue Farbe aufgetragen, die unserer Wahrnehmung einen Streich zu spielen scheint: aus der Ferne nimmt unser Auge zwar die Farbe wahr, aber erst aus der Nähe erschließt sich die tatsächliche Vertiefung im Stein."

Humming stones serve the perception of the senses through playful experience with one's own voice through humming and resonance. Stones with sum holes are said to have already been used for meditation and healing in pre-Christian times. The shape of the stone found in the quarry was not changed, only the front was fine-tuned. After the humming hole was worked in, blue paint was applied, which seems to play a trick on our perception: from a distance our eyes can perceive the colour, but it is only at close range that the actual deepening in the stone is revealed."
