Chronogram on the Concordia building 1874
At the time, music associations were mostly created by the Catholic Church. Similarly, in 1750 a St. Cecilia Society was founded and endorsed by the Prince Bishop of Liège. The first Tongeren harmony was a fact. When in 1873 August Noyen, a convinced freethinker and board member of the harmony died, a break in the association arose. The Catholic government could not tolerate the harmonization of harmony in a bourgeois funeral. In 1874 the split was a fact and the Catholic Circle of Concordia was founded. The liberal part of the harmony continued to exist under the name Casino.
Our harmony therefore officially exists from 1874, and we can look back on a long history. Today, Concordia continues to be an association that is associated with the great "C" of Christian affiliation and further adopts a-politics.
