The plaque says, "Beneath the veneer of modern development are many layers of history. Across the river Isaac Behunin, the area's first pioneer settler, built his cabin in 1862. Human history of the site goes back much farther; Paiutes hunted and fished in this part of the canyon, and Ancestral Puebloans built granaries hundreds of years before.
Ancestral Pueblan granary and tour buses at Zion Lodge in 1929 suggest the time-span of human activity in the canyon."
