Western Heights Cemetery is located on busy Fort Worth Blvd in West Dallas. It is here in the western most corner of the cemetery that we find the graves of Clyde and Marvin "Buck" Barrow. Clyde along with Bonnie Parker formed one of the most notorious of the depression era gangs. In 1933, Bonnie and Clyde were joined by Clyde's brother Marvin "Buck" Barrow and his wife Blanche. A few months after joining the gang, Buck was seriously wounded in a shootout with police near Platt City, Missouri. The gang escaped capture and made their way to Dexter, Iowa where Buck was died from his wounds on July 29, 1933. Blanche refused to leave Buck and was captured and sent to Prison. Bonnie and Clyde once again escaped capture and continued their outlaw ways until they were killed in a law enforcement ambush on May 23, 1934 south of Gibsland, Louisiana. Both Clyde and Buck are buried here in Western Heights Cemetery in West Dallas. The Barrow Graves are easy to find. Enter through the gate on Fort Worth Blvd., and make and immediate left and follow the path to the west edge of the cemetery.

It should be noted that this cemetery is located in a part of town that is not the safest even in the daytime. I would not advise going here alone. The cemetery is unattended and unkept and during my visit beer cans, needles and other trash littered the area. Be careful and be aware of your surroundings at all time. There is little or no parking available and surrounding businesses are not receptive to visitors parking on their lots while visiting the cemetery.
Description:
Clyde Barrow was born in Ellis County, Texas on March 24, 1909. He grew up in West Dallas where his parents operated a small gas station and store while maintaining a small residence behind the store. Clyde was first arrested in 1926 when he and his brother Buck were charged with possession of stolen goods. Over the next few years Clyde continued to rob stores and steal cars until he was arrested and sent to Eastham Prison in 1in 1930. After serving a few months in prison, Clyde escaped from prison with the help of Bonnie Parker. Bonnie and Clyde went on to become two of the most notorious criminals of the 1930’s. The are believed to have been responsible for killing at least nine law enforcement officers between 1930 and 1934. Bonnie and Clyde were killed in a law enforcement ambush on May 23, 1934 about seven miles south of Gibsland, Louisiana. Marvin “Buck” Barrow was born in Marion County, Texas on March 14, 1903. He was the older brother of Clyde Barrow. In 1929 Buck met and married Blanche Caldwell. The two were soon married and November 29, 1929, Buck was shot during a burglary near Denton Texas. Buck was sent to prison only to escape with Blanche’s help after serving only a few months. In 1933, Buck and Blanche joined Bonnie and Clyde and while hiding out near Platte City, Missouri the Barrow Gang was involved in a shoot out with police. Buck was critically wounded, and the gang escaped to Dexter, Iowa where Buck died on July 29, 1933.
