The Reading Pagoda sits 620 feet above the city of Reading and is quite a vision during the daylight hours. But at night time, this monument provides an even more spectacular picture.
Driving to the Pagoda at night can be a little challenging as the narrow roads switchback back and forth around Mount Penn. As you climb, visualize this road as it was used as a racetrack years ago.
Once you reach the Pagoda, you are still not at the highest point of the "mountain". The Mount Penn tower about a mile down the road marks the highest spot.
While there is ample parking at the Pagoda during the daytime, night time might present a different predicament. This is a very popular sightseeing spot and the view of the lights of the city is pretty impressive. You may also encounter a lot of kids hanging around. We were pretty surprised to find a water ice vendor with his little truck there when we visited.
