I am a long time Philadelphia Phillies fan so when I was transferred to Reading many years ago, I was thrilled to be near the stadium where Mike Schmidt, my all time favorite Phillie got his start. The stadium has several tributes to the young Michael Jack scattered throughout the stadium.
The First Energy Stadium is a very family oriented, community minded stadium. Between innings during a baseball game, there are several fun things to entertain the kids from the hot dog toss to cheering your favorite mascot in the base running contest. A few years ago, during a stadium update, they installed a pool in the right field seating area so people can relax in the water and watch the game...and maybe even catch a home run ball!
