Looking like a ginormous 'Jelly Fish', it looks like there are twelve connected cement silos to make up the outer ring, with a huge corrugated iron roof arching over the top. The Grain Elevator is a horizontal one, from a substantial tall concrete structure to the south.

While Weethalle, a distance to the east, started In the 1920's as a returned soldiers allotted homestead farm land, and mostly wheat was grown, I'm not so sure of the history of Rankins Springs. Wikipedia gives that oats is also grown in this area.
