During the night of July 2, 2018, unknown persons set fire to the public bookcase at the Gereonsdriesch in the centre of Cologne and completely destroyed it, the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger reported

Beim Erstellen eines neuen Waymarks für die Kategorie Bookcrossing Zones fand ich diesen traurigen Artikel im Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger:

In der Nacht zu Montag haben Unbekannte den Bücherschrank am Gereonsdriesch in der Kölner Innenstadt angezündet und vollständig zerstört.
Ein Bild des Platzes, das eine Userin in der Facebook-Gruppe "NETT-WERK Köln" geteilt hatte, zeigt das Ausmaß der Zerstörung. Durch die Hitze der Flammen ist sogar das Auto beschädigt worden, welches zur Tatzeit auf der Straße neben dem Schrank stand.

On the night of Monday unknown people have lit and completely destroyed the bookcase at the Gereonsdriesch in the centre of Cologne.
A picture of the site, which had shared a user in the Facebook group "NETT-WERK Cologne", shows the extent of destruction. The heat of the flames even damaged the car that was standing on the street next to the bookcase at the time of the crime.
