On the ground floor of the Litomysl Castle Brewery there is also the Birth Apartment of Bedrich Smetana (visit link) . When Bedrich was bom here on 2 May 1824, and his father František, brewer and tenant of the brewery, had a barrel rolled out in the court-yard forthe staff to celebrate.

He was not then aware that his son would grow up to be the founder of Czech national music. His gift became evident in childhood.

At the age of six he first performed at the local music academy and began to write simple compositions. The family left Litomyšl in 1831. Smetana’s fiat is furnished in period style, which brings us doser to the Smetana household. There is also an 'Interactive children's programme.

V prízemí bývalého zámeckého pivovaru se nachází i Rodný byt Bedricha Smetany. Když se zde 2. brezna 1824 Bedrich narodil, nechal jeho otec František, sládek a nájemce pivovaru, na oslavu vyvalit sud na nádvorí pro pivovarskou chasu. To ješte netušil, že ze syna vyroste zakladatel ceské národní hudby. Své nadání Bedrich projevil již v detství.

V šesti letech poprvé vystoupil na hudební akademii zdejších filosofu a zacal komponovat jednoduché skladby. Z Litomyšle se rodina odstehovala v roce 1831.
