Also known as the Lannius Cemetery, Smyrna Cemetery dates at least back to the 1850s -- early for this part of Texas -- and it is still active, with over 500 burials. It is located just west of the Lannius community in rural Fannin County, TX.

While Lannius has roots into the 1830s, it really saw its heyday from the 1880s to about the 1930s. Today, it is a nice, quiet rural community with under a hundred people, and there are plenty of signs in the area to point the way here.
