Mordecai Lincoln was born in Scituate, MA, moved to New Jersey as a young man and then moved to southeast Pennsylvania in 1720. In 1729, he married his second wife, Mary Robeson and bought a farm in Lorane, PA about four miles away from Daniel Boone's family. Mordecai died in 1736.

Mordecai's eldest son, John, was the great grandfather of Abraham Lincoln. John remained in Berks County until 1765 at which time he moved to the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia.

The Mordecai Lincoln house was renovaated in 1987 after many years of neglect. It is on private property visible from the road. However, the road is narrow and busy so care must be taken to view the house.
