The hotel is situated in the Grawin opal fields, which consist of Grawin, Glengarry, Sheepyard & Mulga Rush. It is about 70 Kilometres west of Lightning Ridge.
Miners built the Pub in 1969. It was an illegal drinking establishment until 1993 when it got its first liquor license. The wooden sign Peter's Glengarry Hilton refers to a previous owner from the 1980s. At the time the pub never closed but nowadays it opens 11am to late. It is popular with locals, travellers, backpackers & pre-booked tourist busses. Backpacker style accommodation is available, with an adjacent amenities block.
Despite now being licensed, it has retained much of its original construction style.
Beer is sold in bottles only & meals are provided all day long.
