"The blacksmith barn appears to have been designed by Schulze & Brown in 1905. No early photographs or other records exist of its design or use. It is referred to here as a blacksmith barn because the earliest references to it, dating back only to the mid 1970s, call it a blacksmith barn or shop. The former presence of a hearth and chimney (Holmes 2003) and the isolated location of the building — to minimize the danger of fire in the stable — support this interpretation." (visit link)
