Christopher and Joseph Dingsdale each died tragically but in different ways and different times and also on different continents. Christopher is buried at St Margaret's Cemetery in Fernie, British Columbia, where the gravestone also pays memory to Joseph, who is buried in the Courcelette British Cemetery
The older Christopher Dingsdale (born 1892) died in an accident at Coal Creek on July 4th, 1910. Although not specified on the grave, it seems that Christopher was yet another of the hundreds of workers who died in the coal mines between Fernie and the Crowsnest Pass. However, he is the only fatality listed for the date of 10 July 1910 at Coal Creek, and his death was not likely due to a mine explosion which typically claimed the lives of multiple workers. The younger Joseph Dingsdale (born 1896) died overseas during the First World war, killed in action at the 140-day long Battle of Sommes on Oct 2nd, 1916
