TANAHA is a Caddo Indian word for Buffalo. This is a life-sized bronze sculpture of a buffalo which is located on a small turn-out at the northeast corner of the intersection of Buffalo Street and Main. The buffalo stands on slightly raised ground surrounded by small rocks and shrubs.
The town of Caddo was established in 1872 on what had been a buffalo trail for hundreds of years. The symbol of the buffalo is a big part of Caddo, and the town motto is "Caddo, OK - An antique town on a buffalo trail". We were not able to see any artist or date shown on the sculpture.
