The Caddo post office stands amid the downtown buildings at 127 W. Buffalo Street. This is a one-story brick building with a flat roof. The counter is open from 7:00-11:00; 12:00-2:00 Mon-Friday, and 9:00-10:30 on Saturday. The lobby and post office box availability is 24 hours on Mon-Sat. The building is closed on Sundays.
The town was named for the nearby Caddo Hills. Caddo is an Indian word "ka do hada'cho" meaning "real chief". Settlers first came to the MKT Railroad station at Caddo in 1872, and a post office was established that year. The town was incorporated in 1898. Caddo is located on an early buffalo trail, and the main street in town is Buffalo Street.
