This sign is situated at the entrance of a car park next to the primary school in the small village of Aberlemno in the county of Angus. The sign contains information on the nearby standing stones and features an ariel photograph of the area with the 'you are here' clearly pointed out.
Also on the photograph are a six numbers pointing out the various stones in the area which are:
1 Serpent Stone
2 Cresent Stone
3 Roadside Cross
4 Site of a Pictish Stone now in the McManus Museum, Dundee
5 Churchyard Cross
6 Replica of the battle scene side of the Churchyard Cross
The first three stones are on the opposite side of the road from the car park, the replica is in the car park. The Churchyard Cross is in the grounds of the church a few hundred yards away.
Also on the sign are photographs of the Churchyard Cross, and ariel photos of the nearby Turin Hill and the hill fort on Finavon Hill.
Aberlemno and the stones are on the B9134 road which runs between the Angus towns of Forfar and Brechin for 12 miles. This was the old hilly route which has now been largely replaced by the flatter, quicker A90 dual-carriageway to the north. The car park is well signposted from the road. The stones are wrapped up and insulated during the winter months.
