Herm is a small island off the coast of Guernsey and The Mermaid Tavern was named after an old cargo vessel used many years ago to carry supplies to the island.
There is a hotel on the island, but most visitors go to the island for a day trip using the ferry which sails 8 times a day during the summer season.
The pub is near to the harbour and has a large outside seating area. People tend to gather here before moving on to the harbour for the return trip so the number of people in the pub fluctuates greatly throughout the day.
