Harry Lefevre Square is a community gathering place where performances and live music are held each summer. In the winter, the annual Christmas tree is displayed having the formal lighting ceremony held in November. Other events, buffets, ice cream socials and other events are held in Harry Lefevre Square. There's even a piano at the rear of the square, placed under a protective shelter for the enjoyment of all and sundry, hopefuly the
sundry possessed of a modicum of musical talent.
This isn't just a dis
play piano, nor is it a
player piano, but a
play me piano. Lettering across the front of the instrument invites all who come near to
Kindly Play Me, I'm Yours. No distinction is made regarding any requisite musical talent which may or may not be in possession of the player.
The piano itself, made by the Canada Piano Company of Oshawa, Ontario, is sheltered by a very permanent small pavilion with a Dutch hipped roof, supported by substantial wood timbers, the whole brightly painted in primary colours.
