On Main Street, opposite the railway line is a plaque for Lithgow-born world champion squash player - David Palmer.

David Troy Palmer OAM, was born 28 June, 1976, in Lithgow, NSW (now a resident in Orlando, USA) turned a 'pro' squash player in 1995, and retired in 2011. [Some info from Wikipedia: (visit link) and below website link]

The metal sign is held within a metal pipe frame, on the southern side of Main Street, has a photo of David playing squash, and the following information:

"Lithgow born David Palmer has had remarkable success at the highest levels of international squash over many years.

"David was world No. 1 in 2001 and 2003 and was in the world top 10 for over 10 consecutive years. He won the Super Series finals in 2002, the World Open in 2002 and 2006; The British Open in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2008; and the Australian Open in 2008.

"David has compete in 5 Commonwealth Games. After appearing in his first in Kuala Lumpur in 1998 followed by Manchester in 2002, he achieved silver at to the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and again at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth. David came out of retirement to compete in his fifth Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 where he won two gold medals in the mixed doubles and men's doubles."
